Stop Press Oyster Bar in the house!by Oyster Bar opens at Steamer Wharf
Queenstown’s newest culinary delight, Boardwalk Queenstown, this morning launched an
unprecedented first for Queenstown’s ever-evolving restaurant landscape; a walk-up oyster and
champagne bar, situated beneath Boardwalk restaurant, on the Earnslaw side of Queenstown’s iconic
Steamer Wharf.
The concept was the brainchild of Boardwalk owner, Pete Jefford. Jefford, the proprietor of 5
venues in Queenstown says the new oyster bar is a unique chance for people to ‘stop off for
year-round, fresh oysters, shucked live in front of them.
Boardwalk Head Chef, Chris Lees has taken on the additional role of ‘Head Shucker’, a role that
he’s embraced with flair. ‘There will be two or three different types of oysters available paired
with red wine vinaigrette or lemon’, says Lees.
Whether you just want just one oyster or you’re hankering for the full dozen, oysters will be
available from 9:30 am every day. And what goes best with oysters? The Oyster Bar has Veuve
Cliquot available by the glass or bottle.
