At Steamer Wharf, we’re proud to call Queenstown home. With the Remarkables in front of us and Lake Wakatipu at our feet, we’re reminded every day of the importance of protecting our natural surroundings.
We’re committed to operating in a way that respects this unique environment. Through practical, achievable steps, we’re working to reduce our impact and support a more sustainable future — for our precinct, our tenants, and everyone who visits.
In 2023, Steamer Wharf achieved Toitū Enviromark Bronze certification — a significant first step in formalising our environmental management systems.
Building on that foundation, we've continued to refine processes, reduce environmental impact, and improve sustainability practices across the precinct. This ongoing commitment was recognised with Toitū Enviromark Gold certification in both 2024 and 2025, reflecting a consistent, high standard of environmental performance and a strong culture of continuous improvement.
As part of our commitment to protecting the local environment, Steamer Wharf has installed Enviropod filters in its stormwater drains to help prevent rubbish, sediment, and pollutants from entering Lake Wakatipu. These innovative filtration systems capture contaminants before they reach the lake, supporting cleaner waterways and healthier ecosystems. To raise awareness, blue fish symbols have also been installed beside drains throughout the precinct — a simple visual reminder that "only rain should go down the drain" and that every action upstream has an impact downstream.
